"Why are you not wearing glasses" I asked him littllllle bit sarcastically out of the blue.

"Oh I got contact lens", he replied in a cool manner without hesitating; I suppose many people ask him that question.

"Well, you definitely look better", I said.

"With glasses or without?, he asked me. He said it moderately but I could sense his clandestine impatience. But actually, that was the kind of question I was waiting for; I wanted to somehow conuterbalance the slight sarcasm I exposed when I first started the conversation, which could have offended him.

So I said "Of course, you look better without glasses". It seems as if I said that just to flatter John but I did mean it.
